About Boro and Shibori:
Boro came to signify clothing worn by some Japanese farming families who mended their garments with leftover fabric scraps. These garments represent esteem and respect for available resources and were often handed down over generations, eventually resembling a patchwork after decades of mending.
Considered one of Japan's oldest indigo dyeing techniques, Shibori came to be during the Edo period as people from the lower classes needed an alternative to the silk they were banned from wearing.
