Yuzen dyeing is precisely what made kimonos extraordinary. Arising from the rich tradition of Japanese painting, Yuzen dyed kimonos embody the unique category of wearable art. This style of dyeing is named after the legendary Kyoto-based artist Miyazaki Yuzen Sai who was a lauded fan painter before developing the original techniques that are still used in traditional kimono dyeing today.
